softcyb 98
Version 0.1 (Build 0001) · softcyb.org
Soft cyborg, noun: a person who has quietly wired AI into their day without turning into a product demo. No implants. Just a machine that is always on, a few tools that fit, and habits that make them useful.
Homo sapiens sapiens is being deprecated. We're the ones preparing for the next release. Read the manifesto.
Most advice about using AI is either a hot take or a 40-minute video. What actually helps is seeing how one specific person set things up: which model, which tools, which device, what it cost, and the order they did it in.
Gamers solved this years ago. A build guide tells you the gear, the skill order and the rough time to farm it. softcyb.org borrows the format: every profile is a loadout, every loadout is a walkthrough you can follow with a checklist, and every trick someone learned on the way is a tip.
Because the last time computers felt this new, this is what they looked like. Also because bevels are honest: a button looks like a button, a window looks like a window, and nothing fades in. The design follows the Soft Cyborg canon used across Ki's apps: silver face, navy selection, teal desktop, 2-layer bevels, and body text no smaller than 14px because retro is not an excuse for squinting.
- Now: read tips, browse loadouts, follow the Creator's Build. Progress is saved in your browser.
- Next: accounts and a database so you can publish your own loadout and tips, like for real, and keep build progress across devices. With it, membership: Initiates pay, Operators are free, Architects get paid.
- Then: comments on steps, forks of builds (“Ki's build but with a Raspberry Pi”), and a webring. Obviously a webring.
Built on a Mac mini at night by a background agent, reviewed by a human in the morning. Fonts: Pixelated MS Sans Serif (98.css, MIT).
